Some studios offer an apprenticeship as a ceramist with a Swiss Federal Certificate of Competence. The students attend one of the three vocational schools in Bern, Vevey or Geneva 1.5 days per week for theoretical ceramic instruction and learn the practical side in the studio. The normal period of training lasts 4 years.
